Local Attractions\Bournemouth & Poole

Only 20 minutes away is Bournemouth, with its shops, restaurants, parks, gardens and seven miles of "European Seaside Award" golden beaches. It also boasts quality accommodation, thriving nightlife and evening entertainment. Bournemouth caters for all ages and tastes. It’s also being turned into a year round leisure facility, attracting surfers to Europe’s first artificial reef currently being constructed at Boscombe.

Visitors to the region should not miss the award winning tethered balloon attraction the “Wave 105 Bournemouth Eye”. Situated in the beautiful Victorian Lower Gardens, just off the Town Square, it’s the town’s highest attraction. The Oceanarium is a fantastic voyage around the waters of the world. The highlight is a walk underwater in the amazing glass tunnel. Watch stingrays, eels, sharks and the graceful turtles swim overhead. Bournemouth really has it all, from shops, beaches, great entertainment and a huge range of restaurants and bars.

Poole has the largest natural harbour in Europe. Poole Quay plays host to many spectacular summer events. Poole Old Town is a mix of smugglers’ passageways and elegant houses built by rich merchants in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Head for Sandbanks and mix with the rich and famous. The area is now the most expensive place to live in the UK. It also boasts one of the best beaches in the seven mile stretch. Poole is also home to the Dolphin Shopping Mall, Dorset’s largest undercover centre. Brownsea Island is great if you want to escape the hustle and bustle. It has peaceful woodland walks and a wide variety of wildlife.

Its a perfect base to explore the Dorset countryside and the Jurassic Coastline of the Purbecks.
